All of the information for this week's lesson will be sent to you via an email using Constant Contact by 12pm noon Wednesday. Please check all of you folders. You may email Robin at dcscholasticchess.org for information.
You may email Coach David Bennett directly at email@example.com
The first class starts Wednesday July 1, 2020 and ends the week of August 25, 2020.
This program is best suited for students in 2nd to 12th grade who know how to start a chess game and how the pieces move. If you are a total beginner,
Please sign up for the free Li Chess account and begin to memorize how pieces move and how to start a chess game before Thursday. This will improve your learning outcome.
The program is delivered in two parts. Zoom meeting platform and Li Chess.com platform. The non beginner student should have both pages open to quickly move from one platform to the next. The Li Chess.com platform will automatically start the tournament once you register 5 minutes before tournament.
The student must have access to internet.
The lecture will be taught by National Master David Bennett. The lecture will be delivered via Zoom invitation for 90 minutes following with chess tournament on Li Chess .com. Please email Robin at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com directly if you have questions.
By participation in this program Parents are required to visibly supervise their student at all times.
Students are advised that chats are not permitted between students. All communication must be directed towards the teacher.
Students are instructed to mute speakers at all times. All written communication must be directed to the teacher. No exceptions.
I look forward to seeing everyone again for this first week of classes!
For day one, this Wednesday, we will cover the opening. We will learn some new openings so that students can achieve a variety of positions to play with as they enter the middle game. Class times are 3pm to 530p
On Thursday, we will work on middle games, including tactics and strategy. Each Thursday we will get better at effectively carrying out a plan and using our judgement to make good decisions.
Friday will be co-ed. We will increase our understanding of endgames. About 10% of all games result in rook endgames, so it's very important to develop our skills in the endgame. It also improves our understanding of fundamental chess logic.
Mrs. Robin and Sarah will work with the new beginners to get them up to speed. Thank you, Sarah!
If your student is a beginner choose the Zoom link that will say Robin Ramson. If your student is not a beginner choose the link that is David Bennett Zoom invitation.
Both invitations will be mailed to you tomorrow. If your student is a beginner, it is advisable that you do not join Coach David's class until you thoroughly understand how to achieve checkmate and the direction in which pieces move. We will use chesskids.com to move the students forward quickly.
For payment, I would recommend a sliding scale between $10-20 per day depending on your ability to pay during this difficult time. Please pay your tuition no later than Tuesdays every week at firstname.lastname@example.org using Paypal. Classes will continue until the week of August 25, 2020. We often send out emails using Constant Contact Newsletter. Please look out for Constant Contact from Chess Girls DC.
You will also receive a chesskids.com account. Please let me know by tomorrow if you do not receive it.
Anyone who is in the position to contribute a little more will be supporting the scholarship program so that no child is denied participation due to their families financial hardship.
I hope everyone is well!
See you soon,
